Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Americans distrust Mormons because of that whole polygamy thing. In fact, Mormonism might have cost Mitt his victory in South Carolina. Exit polling taken in South Carolina revealed 27% of those polled said that a candidate’s religious affiliation mattered “a great deal” and, out of those 27%, only 9% voted for Mitt.
I attend church service once per year… on Christmas morning because my mother goes. When I was in school, I sat in church every Thursday for 14 years. That’s a long time. But I have not been in this habit since 1991.
Although I was raised Episcopalian, my mother’s family is Catholic but the two faiths’ services are essentially the same save for a few phrases and use of Latin.
I won’t lie… discussing religion is not something I particularly enjoy but this article has been bumped too many times to simply go unpublished.
Perhaps because Christmas is upon us the past 10 days turned into “Religious Week in Review” here at Capitol Commentary. We’ve rarely had so many articles on god which is ironic considering I don’t believe in him but I’ve been trying to do my best despite this.
Apparently, women touching cucumbers, bananas, and eggplants might send them into a sexual tizzy because they resemble… a penis. Yes, we said the word: PENIS.
This Wacky Wednesday news come from The Gateway Pundit:
An Islamic cleric residing in Europe said that women should not be close to bananas or cucumbers, in order to avoid any “sexual thoughts.”
I’m not a football fan nor do I follow any sports at all (I used to go to Redskins games when John Riggins played) but San Diego Chargers quaterback Tim Tebow has made it to the outer reaches of my consciousness. Seems that many on the Left (and Atheists, too) are upset, perplexed, even angry that he brings religion into his game.
The War on Christmas might have peaked a few years ago but tis the season and thus the obligatory “War on Christmas” article. The Happy Holidays jihad is apparently alive and well considering how many Tweats (or are they Twits?), Facebook posts, and blog articles I’ve read on the subject and it’s only December 9th.
