Democrat-Controlled Senate Passes Immigration Bill That Encourages Hiring Non-Americans (Because of Obamacare)

From Human Events:

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has been pointing to a quirk of the Gang of Eight immigration bill that provides employers with a sizable cash incentive to hire legalized aliens instead of American citizens, because the legalized aliens are not subject to ObamaCare mandates.

“I filed an amendment that would have corrected one of the most egregious aspects of the Gang of Eight bill as it intersects with Obamacare legislation, namely a penalty imposed on U.S. employers for hiring U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents,” Cruz explained from the Senate floor.  ”This bill says if an employer hires a citizen or a legal immigrant, the IRS can impose a $5,000 penalty on that employer. But if the employer instead hires someone with RPI [Registered Provisional Immigrant] status, that penalty will go away. That is utterly and completely indefensible.”

Texas senator Ted Cruz and Utah senator Mike Lee, both Republicans, voted against this immigration bill, but it still passed in the U.S. Senate  with 14 Republicans voting for it:

Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.)
Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.)
Jeff Chiesa (R-N.J.)
Susan Collins (R-Maine)
Bob Corker (R-Tenn.)
Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.)
Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
Orrin Hatch (R-Utah)
Dean Heller (R-Nev.)
John Hoeven (R-N.D.)
Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)
John McCain (R-Ariz.)
Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska)
Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)

So not only will there be no border security, more immigrants, a diminished GOP, but wages for unskilled workers will go down and Obamacare will encourage non-Americans to be hired over citizens.

And 14 Republicans voted for this mess.

What has Washington become?

I sometimes wonder if the majority of the GOP has lost their collective mind. Why they would want to vote for this legislation is beyond me. I just hope the Republican members of the house stands their ground and refuses to allow this legislation to go forward as it is written.

Millions more unskilled workers. That’s going to be great for the middle class, the group every politician claims to protect.
