Wacky Wednesday: The New Pope Shouldn’t Need to Be Catholic

Posted on Feb 20 2013 - 1:00am by Harrison

With the departure of Pope Benedict as the head of the Catholic Church – and God’s Earthly represenative – there have been increasingly loud calls to look for the most diverse papal choice in the history of Christianity.

Popes have always been caucasian and an overwhelmingly high number of them have been from Italy so, with the increasing growth of Catholocism in Africa – as well as the challenges the church has faced in North America – there is a call to choose a black American as pope.

But simply looking for a black American Catholic is not enough – especially with the explosive growth of other religions amongst the community so, in order to have the widest possible choice non-Catholics are even being considered.

Liberals have been attacking the Catholic Church for decades and do it is apparently felt by officials at the Vatican that they now need to consider all alternatives.

The fate of the Catholic Church hangs in the balance.

One of America’s most prominent Catholics – and Liberals – has agreed that having the church’s first non-Catholic serve as pope is a good idea:

“The best way to reform the Catholic Church and bring it into the present is to – maybe appoint a non-Catholic,” according to Nancy Pelosi.

Capitol Commentary has heard of some crazy things before but this one has to take the cake.

Liberals would want a non-Catholic to become pope so they could destroy the church from within.  How a non-Catholic could even serve as pope isn’t clear and why the chuch would even pay attention to this doesn’t make any sense.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, whose own son will soon be going to jail, had this to say:

I welcome everybody before my pulpit so I think unless the Catholic Church uses this opportunity not to disriminate against somebody because of their religion that they will discredit themselves.

Liberals detest the Catholic Church because their laws are immutable because they come from God and are not subject to the relativism enjoyed by Liberals who seem to sway in the breeze doing whatever they like.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Appoint a non-Catholic as Pope? That would be like asking a Catholic to head the Southern Baptist Conference or one of their churches. Pelosi and Jackson are a couple of prime idiots.

Having been raised Catholic I am not fan of the Catholic church but I think you nailed this–this is about destroying the church from within and I have a bigger problem with this than I do with the Catholic church.

Actually, there’s been black African Popes in early Christian history. Just like Cardozo (not Sotomayor)was the first Hispanic on the Supreme Court. It’s what the Left calls semantics and the Right calls history.

    Dear Lord!

    A non-Catholic Pope?

    How about a non-Muslim imam?
