Wacky Wednesday: Iran’s Caputured U.S. Drone: Mock the Casbah?

Two experts on Iran.

Somehow President Obama has lost his mojo with world leaders (if he ever had it).  How else to explain the fact that not only did Iran “capture” a secret U.S. unmanned drone undamaged (gaining some key technologies) but our leader has been nicely asking for it back, to no avail.

Now, Iran has said they will return the drone but only as a 1/80th scale model:

Instead of the original RQ-170 Sentinel drone, the Islamic Republic said Tuesday that it will send President Obama a tiny toy replica of the plane.

Iranian state radio said that the toy model will be 1/80th the size of the real thing. Iranian citizens can also buy their own toy copies of the drone, which will be available in stores for the equivalent of $4.

Doesn’t sound like Hope or Change is working too well and while it might be better to be loved than feared it doesn’t look like the U.S. fits into either category despite what Obama said when he ran for president (something about “restoring” our good name in the world).

Iran claims the drone wandered into their territory back in December and they used covert electronic means to gain control of it and fly it where it could be safely landed.  Soon after propaganda photos of the drone appeared on Iranian television.

President Obama has asked, through third party channels, that Iran please return the spy drone and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thinks it’s all for naught… we’re not getting the drone back.

Somehow I think this entire episode captures rather well what an Obama presidency has meant to our enemies… carte blanche to do what they want including mocking us by saying they’ll send us a toy replica version of our drone.

I don’t think Ronald Reagan would have had the same response from Iran and he probably would have launched some missiles or something to blow up the drone.  Liberals would call this type of reponse “uncivilized” or “confrontational” and they instead seem to prefer the United States appears as a eunuch on the world stage.

Iran would have been too scared to mock someone who would have done something the way they mock Obama.

Iran knows Obama is weak, Russia knows it, the rest of the Middle East knows it, and so do our allies.
