Why Liberals Love the Global Warming Cause

Posted on May 11 2011 - 1:00am by Harrison

According to England’s Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman, unless billions of dollars are spent to fight “global warming” everything from WiFi to food supplies will be put at risk.  Even the Rail Minister (this is a real position?) agrees:

Despite the need to cut the deficit, the Government is committed to investing in our transport infrastructure through vital projects such as the Thameslink upgrade, Crossrail, the proposed High Speed rail network and more electrification of the rail network.

Once completed, these projects will serve the country for many years, increasing connectivity and helping boost economic growth, so making them fit for the climate of the future has been a vital part of their planning.

So the Environment Secretary wants more solar panels and the Rail Minister wants more rail to combat “global warming.”  All of this as England’s economy is drowning in debt.  This foolishness knows no state or national borders, we see the same idiocy here in the United States.

Things like “global warming” can never be actually measured until hundreds of years later.  In some cases (Ice Ages) this time can be measured in tens of thousands of years.  One can never prove “global warming” is really causing anything so it provides ample excuse to simply go on a crusade for your favorite cause (trains, solar, vegetarianism, population reduction, anti-industrialization, etc…) and play on peoples’ fears so as to get at their wallets in the form of taxation.

Basically, it’s an open ended opportunity to soak the rich, extort “big business,” or anybody who can be legally coerced into “joining” your cause.

And it meets the Liberal criteria of never needing to show hard facts.

It’s 1 degree warmer this year versus last?

Raise taxes!

It’s 1 degree cooler this year than last?

Keep the taxes it’s working!

Because Liberals are so obsessed with trying to give their lives meaning by going against whatever existing power structures are in their lives, and because they never need to show they’re making any progress, they can continue to delude themselves that’s they’re actually doing something.

Unfortunately for the rest of us like passengers on a plane with a screaming baby, we have to deal with the painful consequences.

“Global warming” provides the perfect excuse for whatever they want because it could be the snow, the rivers, the rain, the wind, or anything you find outside.  Instead of looking at nature’s beauty and fury it is like every aspect of weather is an opportunity to rob someone of their money.

There has been no better idiocy invented than “global warming” and, it seems, plenty of people want to join that club.

Yes, they use global warming to push whatever agenda they might have and to exert more control over the people but it is even bigger than that. This is also a global redistribution of wealth scheme designed to take money from the rich countries and give it to the poor ones. And we al know how the liberals feel about wealth redistribution.

Liberals never have to show facts, as long as it seems they have good intentions.

Who’s agenda is behind this junk Science anyway? Surely not the true environmentalist?

The global warming idiots need to hop a high speed rail, and zip thae hell out of here.

Good points. Fortunately few people today identify global warming as being a top priority for the nation to address. That won’t stop the liberals from indoctrinating the young, and pushing their agenda in the future. It makes me believe more and more strongly that the conservatives need to establish a strong presence in the education field so that our children aren’t all brainwashed…

There is no denying what is going on behind the scenes though.

Well, I’m no scientist, so when groups of scientists come out with oposing claims and what not, all I can really do is throw my hands up and say I honestly don’t know.

I do find it weird though that it was either last year or this year was an El Nino year. I remember this causing some pretty crappy and erratic weather back in the early 90s, and we’ve been having some nasty weather lately.

What’s weird about that is back in the early 90s, weather guys wouldn’t shut up about it. I only knew that we’ve recently had an el nino year because I read it in an obscure article. There’s zero talk about it. I’m not a Global Warming denier–I simply don’t have enough information to refute or support the claims–but I find it odd that now we’re blaming erratic weather on global warming, and 15 years ago we thought it was something entirely different.

It’s also weird that we’re experiencing the same type of erratic weather patterns that we experienced the last time we had an el nino year.

i remember the el nino years basically because of chris farley.

in re “Denier”: anyone who questions the validity of AGW is immediately labled a “Denier” ,or “flat earther”. it’s like speaking out against the current regime because of policy and immediately being dubbed “racist” (think early 2009). same tactic.

and basically, your point about non-belief is the sums the entire counter-argument: there just isn’t enough data at this point to support the theory. it just seems to me the AGW folk put the conclusion at the front of the scientific method, and worked in hindsight. which is why AGW now is climate change.

Well you know that El Nino is Spanish for “the Nino.”

Global warming/cooling happens… with or without humans.

Global warming is the ultimate blank canvas for liberals – they can make it anything they want.

Harrison, you said: “Because Liberals are so obsessed with trying to give their lives meaning by going against whatever existing power structures are in their lives,…”

Liberals ARE the power structure these days.

Liberals, many of them urban dwellers are out of touch with “nature’s beauty and fury.” Hunters are perceived as evil too, because hunters kill wildlife with a gun. Most hunters really dislike the liberal stigma with which they are perceived. Due to responsible hunting practices, many animal species are thriving. So, actually hunters contribute to conservation, because they understand wildlife-management strategies. Maybe their attempt at wildlife-management is taking Fido to doggie school.

      Great post sharon.

Wearing a Patagonia fleece vest while driving your Prius down a gravel road doesn’t count?

Ha ha! So there are exceptions, good one!

Such a bunch of bull… and If cap and trade system is implemented it will be the end of capitalism :(

    • Harrison May 11, 2011 at 10:43 PM -

That’s the way Liberals want it.

  8. Joe Markowitz May 12, 2011 at 4:47 PM -

Lonnie Thompson, whose measurement of ice core samples provided data supporting the theory that increases in atmospheric CO2 cause global warming, was quite conservative politically, and voted for Reagan. James Hansen, the famous NASA scientist who warned of global warming in the 1980’s, was politically an independent.

On the other hand, there is evidence that some of the scientific research in this field has been tainted by political interests. That would be the millions that has been spent by oil companies and people like the Koch brothers in an attempt to prove that climate change is not happening. If they had come up with scientific evidence to support their beliefs, believe me we would have heard about it. But so far not a peep.

  9. Harrison May 12, 2011 at 8:14 PM -

Joe, if had it been “proved” the debate would be over. It’s not. I thought we agreed to see in 1,000 years what the temperatures had done?

What really gets me is when they teach in schools about global warming. They practically support the idea, in text books, and the teachers themselves. I remember last year at High school some woman came to teach the school a little about global warming, showed us some cute little animations, making it look as legitimate as possible. I was the only student questioning her about %99 of what she was trying to get everyone to believe. As i can see charts in temperature, CO2, methane change, etc…. (the charts looked as if they were made in windows PAINT) But the sad part is that maybe %98 of the student believe what they have been hearing through out the years from their so called teachers. This is what i get for living in California though (living in California explains pretty much everthing)

You gotta start when they’re young and haven’t learned to think for themselves.
