Matt Damon's Green Zone Sent to Hurt Locker
Once again, another Hollywood Liberal makes a preachy movie about Iraq and George Bush and suffers defeat at the box office:
Matt Damon’s new Iraq war conspiracy thriller “Green Zone” was one of the year’s first big flops.
“Green Zone” opened at a distant No. 2 in North America with $14.5 million. Distributor Universal Pictures, which axed its top executives last fall after a poor run at the box office, had hoped for a slightly better showing.
“It’s a bit of a disappointment,” said Nikki Rocco, president of distribution at the General Electric Co unit.
Damon plays a U.S. soldier questioning the supposed existence of weapons of mass destruction shortly after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Reviews were mixed.
Green Zone joins other Liberal flops like Lions for Lambs and Rendition in the dustbin of failed anti-Bush/Iraqi War flicks.
Matt thought Bush’s daughters should get sent to Iraq to fight:
And if you’re gonna send people to war, ahh, if, if we all get together and decide we need to go to war then that needs to be shared by everybody. You know, and if the President has daughters who are of age then maybe they should go, too.
Kathryn Bigelow’s Hurt Locker didn’t set any box office records but it did turn a profit (Damon’s disaster cost upwards of $100 million) and her film came away with quite a few Oscars. Whether or not her film truly was the best picture of the year is best left for another discussion, but why do Liberals keep making preachy anti-war war movies nobody sees?

I wasn’t all that impressed with Hurt Locker, but at least it did not politicize the Iraq war and the brave soldiers who have fought there. I have no desire to see Green Zone. I don’t think Hollywood liberals realize the majority of Americans are conservative and do not want to see liberal propaganda. The people who make movies like Green Zone live in Hollywood and all their friends and coworkers are liberal so they just assume the rest of the country is that way.

“why do Liberals keep making preachy anti-war war movies nobody sees?”
To keep up the indoctrination! It often fails at the box office, but if they get enough bulk out there, people might juts buy they message.
or…
It’s nothing more than unwarranted self importance.

I’ll go with “unwarranted self importance” for 1,000.

I believe Green Zone sold more tickets in its first weekend than Hurt Locker did in its entire run. But you are right that Green Zone must be judged a flop because it was much more expensive to make. But that’s mainly because stars like Matt Damon get big paychecks. I haven’t seen Green Zone yet, but the book it was partially based on was really excellent.

It is judged a flop because it made $14.5 million at the box office opening weekend and cost $100 million to make. Nobody cares about these Liberal Iraq War movies and they never have. Every one has been a failure.

I agree that the Hurt Locker did not take any bias towards the Iraq war. It did an excellent job of showing what living in the War is like and what it does to a person.
I tend to think that liberal Hollywood movies are targeted at weak minded and stupid people. I think they think Americans are stupid. The purpose of these films is to push propaganda on people who are to dumb to understand what propaganda is. They do not realize that people are starting to wake up and care.

This reminds me of the movie Team America

Oh well. My personal favorite still stands as The departed for a Damon flick.
