Fools and Horses – and Global Warmers
From the Reality Files:
The scientist behind the bogus claim in a Nobel Prize-winning UN report that Himalayan glaciers will have melted by 2035 last night admitted it was included purely to put political pressure on world leaders.
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Dr Lal, the co-ordinating lead author of the report’s chapter on Asia, said: ‘It related to several countries in this region and their water sources. We thought that if we can highlight it, it will impact policy-makers and politicians and encourage them to take some concrete action.
‘It had importance for the region, so we thought we should put it in.’
Dr Lal said: ‘We knew the WWF report with the 2035 date was “grey literature” [material not published in a peer-reviewed journal]. But it was never picked up by any of the authors in our working group, nor by any of the more than 500 external reviewers, by the governments to which it was sent, or by the final IPCC review editors.’
In fact, the 2035 melting date seems to have been plucked from thin air.
These “scientists” will stop at nothing to push their political agenda, all the while claiming they are dealing in facts and anybody who disbelieves them is a member of the Flat Earth Society.
The fact that Global Warmers can’t be truthful shows their agenda to be shallow and not worth the time of day. Unfortunately, they have managed to get industrialized nations to give away $100 billion in the name of “fighting global warming.”

Further proof that the IPCC is a political body and NOT a reliable scientific entity. If I were a citizen of one of those nation’s that were fooled to provide funds for any AGW programs, I would be so angry.
BTW, even uber liberal NPR had a story on why GW has not occurred over the last decade.

You are a citizen of one of those countries!

if global warming is real, why are so many people actively involved with creating an illusion that it is real?
if the right was pushing forth AGW, where would we be right now?

I contributed to global warming by smoking my pipe with an aromatic tobacco, now I am going to have a steak dinner. Take that Mother Earth!!!!

How does this contradict the fact that the glaciers are in fact melting? If you don’t believe they are melting, just go look for yourself and you can actually watch them melting. Obviously no one knows the exact date they will melt by, so all these scientists were saying is that they included this date in a public comment to get attention, but they would never put such a date in a peer-reviewed journal.

Joe, Just because it is hot in your attic doesn’t mean it’s hot in your basement. About the ice you need to consider total ice mass (so I’m afraid you’re wrong):
At the other end of the earth, we are told the Larsen B ice shelf on the western side of Antarctica is collapsing. That part is warming and has been for decades. But it comprises just 2% of the continent. The rest of the continent is cooling.
A report prepared by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research for last April’s meeting of the Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington notes that the South Pole has in fact shown “significant cooling in recent decades.”

And “peer reviewed” means global warming liar #1 has global warming liar #2 give their stamp of approval on the “findings.”
Or how about this one:
The United Nations’ expert panel on climate change based claims about ice disappearing from the world’s mountain tops on a student’s dissertation and an article in a mountaineering magazine.

Even assuming that there is “global warming” the connection to man has yet to be conclusively established. We have periods of global warming. Those periods are what end ice ages. Unless I miss my mark there have been several ice ages followed by periods of global warming; most of which occurred sans homo sapien.
