Scott Brown, Pick-up Truck Populist?

Scott Brown made his pick-up truck famous… and gave himself that “Everyman’s” image by driving his rig around:

He wasn’t the first Senate candidate to cast himself this way.  We had Republican Fred Thompson in his red pick-up (he won):

Then we had Democratic candidate Victor Morales who drove around his white pick-up (he lost):

Maybe Morales’ mistake was that his truck was Japanese (Nissan) while Brown’s and Thompson’s rigs were American (GM and Chevy).
