Coakley and Brown: Why Liberals Can't Understand Losing
Losing is tough on anybody’s ego. After all, if you didn’t win it was because you didn’t have what it took to attain victory. This is how the thinking process should be but, as we saw in the Brown/Coakley senate race in Massachusetts, Liberals don’t think like this.
Here are some examples:
“One thing the Democrats have done wrong? We haven’t kept the focus on this disaster on the Republicans who brought it upon us. We’ve tried too hard to do that right thing, and that’s to fix it, as opposed to spend more of our time and energy pointing the finger at who got us [here] in the first place.”
- Joe Kennedy (I) candidate – no relation to the famous Kennedy clan
“There’s no way that Martha Coakley can lose: Kennedy family members will personally carry Massachusetts voters to the polls to keep that from happening.”
- Dan Schner (McCain’s 2000 communications director)
“Has democratic-leaning Massachusetts lost its mind?”
- David Shuster (MSNBC talking head)
We could go on and on but I think the point has been made. Coakley went from having a huge lead to losing. Contrast this with the honesty from former President George W. Bush when his party took heavy losses in the 2006 races:
Look, this is a close election. If you look at race by race, it was close. The cumulative effect, however, was not too close. It was a thumping.
Liberals simply can’t imagine why Americans would not want Socialized Medicine, a Carbon Tax, sky high penalties for being wealthy, decreased defense spending, and closing Gitmo. They can’t imagine it!
Democratic Senator Barney Frank tried to paint the Massachusetts race in starker terms:
“If Scott Brown wins, it’ll kill the health bill.”
Frank’s reminder might have been a key towards pushing Brown over the edge. Americans are opposed to Obamakare and the promise of killing Socialized Medicine with a Coakley loss probably helped her opponent quite a bit.
The excuse machine is already rolling and it is clear that Liberals are aghast that Obama, his party, and their ideas were rejected by voters. The “Blame Bush Brigade” is squealing more and more loudly but it has become clear that their ability to resonate with voters has almost disappeared.
Because Liberals begin from the premise that government can solve all of your problems they will never understand why voters would not agree with them. They honestly and truly believe that is only government was better life would be better. This statement is a true one, but it is that less government is better, not more government.
Liberals (and Democrats) should take away from the Coakley loss in Massachusetts the lesson that their agenda does not resonate with Americans, that they should move to the middle and stop making excuses. With Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid (who is headed towards defeat himself in November), and Barack Obama running the show it is unrealistic for us to think the tone in Washington will change; for that we will need to wait until November 2010.

I wonder if they are actually that blind to the facts or are just trying to spin this in some light favorable to their agenda. Either way I think the American public just served notice that they aren’t buying what Democrats are selling. If they truly believe what they need is more finger pointing and partisan rancor then they are going to be truly mystified come November.

They are not blind to the facts they are just like what happens before a ceasefire… they are trying to get as many licks in as they can before the gong sounds.

credit democratic senator Webb from virginia in stating that the vote should be taken after brown is seated.
to me, this upset is along the lines of usa/ussr in the 1980 olympics.
10:13 AM
I don’t see this as an upset. If Obama had 55% popularity and Americans supported his agenda then it would have been an upset.
At least there were no East German judges!

Conservatives need keep the momentum. This is step one in a long process to win back America. If the liberals are smart, they will move to the middle. Personally, I hope they continue with their current path. This will most likely spell doom in the 2010 election. It will be interesting to see if health care is moved to the back burner.
10:15 AM
Conservatives betrayed much of their core values with regard to spending during the Bush years and I’m not sure 1 year is enough time to change one’s inner tune so to speak.

“Liberals simply can’t imagine why Americans would not want Socialized Medicine, a Carbon Tax, sky high penalties for being wealthy, decreased defense spending, and closing Gitmo. They can’t imagine it!”
And some (see link below) in the GOP can’t seem to understand that some American’s are angry, paranoid, extremists (a.k.a. patriots) because they actually want to keep U.S. sovereignty, have U.S. jobs (rather than everything coming from China) keep our physical (land) borders, etc.. etc..

Worries that GOP is filling with ‘anger, paranoia, extremism’

10:41 AM
That is an interesting story, particularly this part:
“It’s obvious the free trade Republicans have no understanding of why tea party protestors are against globalism or loss of sovereignty,” Corsi said.
I am all for free trade but I think many of the Tea Party crowd are against it, but I wonder if that is from ignorance or not.
11:48 AM
free trade… I think it depends on who we are trading with, why we are trading, and what the ramifications of such trade could/would be. So, it really depends, I think. And as it stands today.. we are too dependent on others to keep our economy going because we’ve been made powerful & rich primarily by Chinese “slave labor” and Islamic (Shariah Law via the Saudi’s oil) while both are cruel-natured trading partners that we’ve just about sold out to. We are going from being a leader who could have ‘maybe’ influenced such countries for the better, to being a follower who is now being influenced by them.. so it seems. And what were American intentions for this? Was it for America to make a fast buck (greed via cheap chinese slave labor) and also because of America “needing” Arab oil (desperation). It makes me wonder, if were we greedy because we were desperate, or did we end up desperate ‘because’ we were so greedy?
And, is there ever a good excuse/reason for selling out? Just doesn’t seem worth it in the long run.
11:55 AM
The American consumer only cares about the bottom line price on something. I am guilty of it when I went to Best Buy and bought the least expensive LCD television they had (not that any came from the U.S.).
We have hundreds of millions of consumers making independent decisions on a daily basis that all lead down the same path… give me what I want for the least amount of money.
12:11 PM
They (those who sold us out) put that choice on the menu for the “common man”.. those who got filthy rich from selling US out are the same people who could AFFORD to not even have to ask themselves that same question, “which product is cheaper for me to buy?”
This means that WE are thrifty, while they don’t need to be..
Well, I mean, not unless one is saving up to buy a second mansion or yaught, etc.. (while their own are living on meager rations-food stamps from the govt.) then maybe they would need to be thrifty. And the solution is not for the govt. to force common sense through socialism.. that will only make matters much worse. If the poor in our country want to better themselves they need OPPORTUNITY (decent jobs).. or do the poor people of America need to go and make a better life for themselves in China, or Saudi Arabia, instead? If they wait long enough, they won’t even have to move.. China and Saudi Arabia will here running the show instead. If they are not already that is?
12:57 PM
Those that believe big government is the cure all will never give up this position. I posit that the loss of individual sovereignty is equally important as the loss of national sovereignty, liberals will dissolve both in order to implement their ideological policies. Rather than understanding that their position does not resonate with the American public, they choose libel and slander in order to defame the opposition. Truly pathetic.
2:32 PM
sorry, my last sentence above should have read more like the following..
“..because China and Saudi Arabia will be over here running our show (country) for us. If they are not already that is?”
Not sure if the other way I wrote it expressed what I was trying to say.
Well said, the LibertyPen, it is truly pathetic.
7:08 PM
Coakley was “teabagged” by Brown last night.
Sorry…I couldn’t help myself.
7:27 PM
Oh Vulcanhammer, why???????????????????
9:25 PM
Hey, I have something else to share about those angry, paranoid, extremist, tea baggers for you guys…
See this short video at link below.. I was thinking, wouldn’t it be nice if our schools showed documentaries like this one that Glenn Beck made.. you know, they could show it to the older kids. Because, maybe watching something like this, coupled with some honest documentaries about our constitution, could really help the kids learn that America was/is really not so evil afterall. Haha, hey, I have a dream… one day American kids will not be brainwashed by lunatic liberals

6:17 PM
Marie, I am looking forward to this episode. It should be quite interesting.
7:33 PM
Hey LibertyPen.. me too, but unfortunatley I don’t think I’ll get to view it that day though.. I will have to wait till it is posted on the internet somewhere, which I’m sure it will be.
Yeah, Fox news has really been putting out some good stuff via Glenn Beck. Although, I am still waiting to see if Glenn, or anyone at Fox, will cover the information given in that new book, Muslim Mafia/by Dave Gaubatz. Just the other day I was reading about how the Saudis own the second largest stock in Fox News, and so, I’m not so confident they will tackle that topic/threat, as well. Would be a real shame because there is some other really important stuff that I think Americans really ‘need’ to know & understand.
7:48 PM
Marie, I plan on taping it so I can post it.
I haven’t heard about the other thing though, that is pretty interesting.

That’s good to know LibertyPen, thanks! Here is a link about that book and the reaction to it by some members in our congress..

The above, when taken into consideration with stories such as these other ones at the following links, again, is why I think it is very important for Americans to realize what is taking place here in regards to this. And again, I can’t help but wonder where is Fox News, why aren’t they reporting on this?.. I only hear crickets chirping.. and then I hear how the Saudis own the second largest stock in Fox News.. I think that one really can’t help but wonder about what is going on with all of this.
