I was not much impressed with the first part. I think I will hold judgement until I have viewed the whole opener. I learned a long time ago not to read too much reality into my fantasies. The blonde was from Battlestar Galactica where she kicked some major ass. I expect maybe the same although that would be type casting? I think Chloe is the way she is to contrast the “old” CTU with the “new” CTU though, if past shows are any guide, CTU is the least secure place in the world.

I think the Iranian president’s daughter is Indian which makes it more confusing. I liked the part about how he was a former appliance salesman though.

Harrison, my man, please don’t read too much into the political backdrops. I never viewed the show for anything other than what I wanted it to be: a tortured soul in Jack Bauer running around with the greatest cell phone on the planet, never eating, sleeping or showering, blowing stuff up, torturing the bad guys and saving the day in the end. Period.

I do agree with your analysis on some of the other stuff, though.

Additionally… Chloe is whining way too much. Why does the big blonde dress like she’s going to a cocktail party afterwards? Why does the Iranian President sound more like he’s from Central America than the Middle East?

Overall, I was kind of underwhelmed last night, especially considering last year’s epic two-hour movie and two-hour lead episode to kick-off the season. We’ll see what tonight brings.
