Dick Cheney Gets it Wrong: Shoe vs. Underwear Bomber
Joe Markowitz’s blog, Hope and Change, is one I read. Indeed, he posts comments here sometimes. Although he and I rarely agree he does have a good post about the Underwear Bomber on his site:
It’s a good thing we have Dick Cheney around to remind us that we are at war. Here are his comments on the arrest of Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab, accused of attempting to set off a bomb in an airplane landing in Detroit on Christmas day:
As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low-key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war.
Echoing the comments of other Republican critics who complain that we are coddling the Christmas bomber by refraining from torturing him, and planning to try him in an American court, Dick Cheney reminds us that of course the Bush administration would never have handled such a problem in that way.

Good God!! When do we vote out the politicians & get statesmen in Washington. I’m tired of both political parties who rush to us to help them & then leave us out of the process of selecting candidates that represent the people.
Finally, someone did write a book & it’s about a small town in America that stands up to corrupt politicians & federal tyranny & ends up starting the 2nd American Revolution w/the countries support.
It’s a great read for 2010 if history is now calling on us to fulfill our destiny & leave our legacy. It’s that great.

As I have said before America is a company and we the people are the stockholders. The only ones to blame for the mess we are in today are we the people!!! Most americans do little or nothing when it comes to their investment in America. We accept the two party systemeven though it is failing us. We accept the candidates even though we cannot find them acceptable. Government has taken anything it wants and we never question in unity. Why???, Because the government has successfully broken it’s investors into too many groups. Young, Old, Rich, Poor, White, Black, Other Minorities, etc, etc, etc., and we have allowed it The two party system is a slam dunk for public officials. One wins, one loses, next time, one wins, one loses, but they both are secure and dominant. The only time they join forces is when there is a third party challange. First order of business is the silent majority has to get off their duffs and put aside our silly differences and stand up as one group and DEMAND real changes in company operations and/or a major changeing of the guards. We need to find leaders not politicians. We need leaders that have NO agenda but to bring America back on track to a thriving and prosperous company. We need to let free enterprise work and make sure government stays out of its way. The rest will write itself

Getting rid of the electoral college would accomplish many of your goals. The only issue with removing the Electoral College, however, is that we might see partisanship grow far worse as a party with 37% of the vote might be ruling the country. The Electoral College ensures the type of unstable, grand coalition parties that we see in Europe do not happen here. As things stand, when a 3rd Party does spring up the existing parties co-opt their agenda and bleed them dry.

I agree that the possibility is there for a third party with 37% of the votes running the country. We have had independent party candidates in probably every election and this situation has not been a problem. People need choices. It is abundently clear that the democrat and republican parties have no, zero, nada, concept of how to run this company of ours never mind represent us to the rest of the world. It is also obvious that their interests are not representative of our needs. SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE,or EVERYTHING that our ancestors fought and died for was in vain. We need to change the way they run our business and how they spend our money. So whether it is a no party system or a three party system or four or five party. The important thing is to find common sense leadership that does what is needed for the people and the country, and not bought and paid for politicians who represent unions, special interest, lawyers, lobbyists, or party lines. Successful companies rely on a great management teams for their success and we should demand no less for the greatest country on the earth.

With the Electoral College a 3rd party is almost impossible. At the end of the day, I blame human nature and the voters. Human nature because as much as people say they are against pork they want it for themselves and the voters are at fault because they keep re-electing these people!

Using the normal processes you are very much correct. We may have a country that is divided into groups and catagories but at the end of the day the majority wants free enterprise an less government. Most people do not want a weak government where comprmise and payoffs end up benefitting only the priveleged and the cost goes to the silent working class. There are voices everywhere, each slowly throwing in the towel buying guns and ammo because they believe there will soon be a revolution. Is this great nation about to take the same course the Roman empire!!! Those voices desperately need a mouth piece, a common sense visionary. One who will stand up and draw the line in the sand that enough is enough. If that is in the form of a third party then so be it. THIS current management body is crushing the American image and it’s spirit. China just about owns us, third world nations threaten us daily. Our own people are starving, inner cities are crumbling and yet we are giving billions to the rest of the world. Unemployment is out of site, people keep collecting because they can and then they work under the table and take jobs away from those that ARE still trying. The people I talk to, young, old, rich ,average, white, black, and others agree. A change in the way government is not an option, it is a necessity

I have little hope for a population who prefers reality TV, doesn’t know who is Vice President, and makes poor dietary decisions and, as a result, is mostly fat or obese.

Fine then, you win!!! Lets welcome socialism with open arms and the politicians rape us of our rights, our money and our children. We are all fat and lazy and want a free ride.

I’m just looking at the trends and reflecting on human nature. All countries fall for the same reasons in the end.
