Another Puzzle for Libs: More Guns, Fewer Murders and Lower Crime

Actually it makes total sense because when a law abiding citizen buys a gun and takes responsibility for their safety then that is one less person who stands the chance of being a victim of a criminal. When states allow citizens to legally carry a concealed handgun, those states see a decrease in their murder rate. This has been show many times in places such as Florida, Texas, and Utah for example.
So it should come as no surprise (except to Liberals) what the latest FBI crime report shows:
The oft-cited credo that more guns equal more crime is being tested by facts on the ground this year: Even as gun ownership has surged in the US in the past year, violent crime, including murder and robbery, has dropped steeply.
Add to that the fact that many experts had predicted higher crime rates as the US grinds through a difficult recession, and the discrepancy has advocates on both sides of the Second Amendment debate rushing to their ramparts.
After several years of crime rates holding relatively steady, the FBI is reporting that violent crimes – including gun crimes – dropped dramatically in the first six months of 2009, with murder down 10 percent across the US as a whole.
Gun control doesn’t affect criminals because they are… criminals… it only affect law abiding citizens (because they follow the law).
Criminals are not really afraid of police nor are they afraid of going to jail… what they are afraid of is a law abiding citizen using their firearm to kill them.
Liberals can argue all they want about guns and crime but there are pesky things called facts that disprove them time and time again.
Not surprisingly, our Liberal press is not reporting these facts the way they should.

A very progressive liberal person I know is utterly convinced that if guns are prohibited at best or controlled at the least, that gun violence will diminish. He lives in an above average upper income are and is a retired academic. I showed him where he could buy a “cold piece” within a half mile of his house.He had no answer to that.

Yes this is what we called putting the rubber to the road. I find that many Liberals live in the world of “theory” and “warm thoughts” which, most of the time, have little connection to reality.

A firearm is a great equalizer; a small women could easily keep several assailants at bay with a well handled firearm. A community that willfully abrogates its 2nd amendment rights to bear arms will become easy prey for criminals: can anyone say Washington, D.C?
