Meet the new Gitmo, same as the old Gitmo.

In Casablanca, Rick said “We’ll always have Paris.”  It was a classic movie and a classic line.  Rick was torn between love and virtue.  The Democrats have their own Casablanca, this time in Illinois and it’s about reality and politics.  To continue the cinema metaphors further, the Gitmo detainees will be moving North by Northwest to the heartland of America.  Why?  National Security Adviser James Jones said:

“In taking this action, we are removing from terrorist organizations around the world the recruiting tool that Guantanamo has come to symbolize.”

One can imagine with Gitmo moving to Illinois now all of the wannabe terrorists, their mentors, imans, training schools, and suicide bombers will have to close up shop and go away.  Nevermind that in the minds of those who despise us America still supports Israel, still uses unmanned drones to blow people up, American troops still occupy the Holy Lands in Saudi Arabia, and our money still supports countries like Egypt.

But closing Gitmo and moving it someplace else (with all of the same elements like indefinite detention) will somehow silence the “haters” of the world.

And this sound logic comes from the National Security Advisor of the United States!

Liberals are still upset Gitmo will be around, suspected terrorists will still be incarcirated, the expensive Gitmo will go into disuse, the people of Illinois are unhappy these dangerous men will be in their midst, and we’ll have all of these evil people on American soil.

It seems that Rick said they’d always have Paris but, even with Gitmo closed and being re-opened someplace else, we will always have Gitmo.
