Welcome to Carnival of the Liberals.  Lots of good posts this month.  My highlights are preceded by asterisks and followed by short quotes. It has been one hell of a month or so in the U.S. The health care crisis, perfectly summed up by  Dave Away From Home’s stark graphic titled Cristina’s Health Insurance , continued to spark contentious debate and even an outburst by Congressman Joe Wilson during Obama’s health care speech.

LOOK AT THE DETROIT POOR WITH CELL PHONES! There are lots of examples of the dangerous results of liberal politics in the United States. Look at Dallas, Atlanta, California, New York and many others. These cities are laying off employees or furloughing, and reducing or shutting down services. Oh, how liberals love to tax the productive to give to the non-productive! As Margaret Thatcher said, liberals never get tired of spending other people’s money! What liberals never count on is taxpayers can move! And they do! Once the tax base shrinks, the party has to come to an end one day.

Bill Sparkman was a regular guy. Had a couple children, managed to get them grown up. Worked with the Boy Scouts, worked with kids as a substitute teacher. Also worked for the U.S. Census, probably to help make ends meet. He, unfortunately, also got cancer and fought for his life with regular doses of chemotherapy. In between sessions of chemo, while working as a census taker near Big Creek, Kentucky, somebody savagely murdered him. Abducted him, gagged him, stripped him naked, bound his hands and feet and hanged his body from a tree.

John Derbyshire is a conservative writer best known for being a contributer to National Review .  He’s the author of a novel entitled Seeing Calvin Coolidge in a Dream , four books on science/mathematics and co-author of one on sailing.  His latest is We Are Doomed: Reclaiming Conservative Pessimism , scheduled for release September 29th.  See the my review here.   Mr. Derbyshire kindly agreed to an interview with HBD Books .  You started out as a computer programmer.

Liberals, the human rights absolutionists, and the anti-war crowd often argue the enemy attacking us 1) can never defeat America, 2) are unjust “thugs” so calling this a war bestows upon terrorists the honorable title of ‘warrior,’ 3) terrorism will always occur so trying to win a war on terror that will never end is senseless, and 4) world peace is possible (even though terrorism will always be with us).

There are two important observations to be done about the article posted by Jim Bramlett today. The first is in the number 888 of identified active hate groups published by the SPLC (SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER). This # is the gematria value of Jesus which tells me more than one thing, He is in control, these are His people, they are under His eye and protection, and the enemy also knows all of this and is identifying them.  The next thing to comment is the fear of the writer that Mr.

Iran did something fairly important this week, in the grand scheme of things. Iran proved that President Bush and his “Axis of Evil” comment was accurate, and that President/Senator Obama (and all his liberal allies with blinders on) with his Pollyannish “Iran is not a threat” was wrong. Deadly wrong.

We’ve all seen the pictures of America’s poor.  There is not one of us who hasn’t been touched by the photo of homeless child in dirty clothing crying because of supposed hunger pangs. Our emotional attachment to that child knows no political boundaries.  Sympathy for the poor is not something exclusive to liberals.
