Laying the Work for an Afghanistan Troop Withdraw?
Certainly sounds like it:
The United States has “limited time” to show that President Barack Obama’s new strategy for Afghanistan is succeeding, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Thursday.
“There is a limited time for us to show that this is working,” Gates said at a press conference alongside Admiral Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The defense secretary acknowledged skepticism among the US population about the mission in Afghanistan.
“We are mindful of that, we understand the concerns of many Americans in that area, but we think that we now have the resources and the right approach to start making some headway,” he said.
