It had to do with the fact that much of a hybrid is produced worldwide and the parts are shipped everywhere (also the strip mining process needed to build the batteries) and then looking at how far the truck would drive before being scrapped vs. the Prius. The study has been attacked from many greenies. There was a study done… dust-to-dust… looked at all of the energy required to build a Prius vs. a Hummer. In the Netherlands we pay 1.45 € a liter that is 5.40 € a gallon which makes 7.80 USD a gallon...and you are still complaining..)) Here in Turkey we pay around 1.30 € a liter with neighboring countries as main oil suppliers...
