Democrats "Govern" from Arrogance?

I wonder… when did we last hear about governing from arrogance?  Was it from the Democrats during the two terms of George W. Bush?  Something about trampling on the Constitution, taking away our rights as Americans (I’m still trying to find out what I could do before but can’t now), and running roughshod over Congress?

What are we seeing now from the Democrats?  Let’s take a look:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of the most despised political figures in the country.

And, frankly, she doesn’t give a damn.

“No, I don’t care,” Pelosi told POLITICO last Thursday, laughing heartily as she walked beneath the Capitol dome and plunged into a crowd of tourists.

Mention of the “trust” question halted the click-clack of Pelosi’s heels against Rotunda marble, and she turned to face the reporter who posed the question.

“I don’t know about ‘trust’ — I think I’m trusted,” she said.

“I certainly want to be trusted. I’m not particularly concerned if I’m liked.”

But month after month of polling shows that the speaker is neither trusted nor liked by the general public — even as she emerges from one of the most productive legislative periods any speaker has ever enjoyed.

Pelosi’s attitude should be of no surprise.  Afterall, she has what can be considered a completely safe elected position being very Liberal and “representing” San Francisco.  But should we care about her attitude?

Pelosi speaks from arrogance and from being out-of-touch.  True, she is supposed to represent her San Francisco District (of which I am, unfortunately, a member) but being Speaker of the House she should be speaking for all Americans.  Clearly, judging by her popularity, she is not.  One could make the argument, to Pelosi’s favor, that being liked is secondary if you are a politician but, as polls show, she’s not liked or trusted.  And she is the fourth most important elected Democrat in the Federal government!  Pelosi thinks she knows better which is why she is relentless in pursuing her agenda… even if the American people disagree.  She is also a hypocrite having critisized Republicans for being liars and worse while it seems as though she lied about the CIA’s and Bush administration’s “torture” program.

Then we have the third most powerful elected Democrat (Harry Reid of Nevada).  Is he working to craft the best legislation possible on the Obamakare or is he just trying to get the thing passed no matter how flawed it is?  Take a guess which one it is:

“What I think should be in the bill is something that I will vote for according to my conscience when we get this bill to the floor,” Reid told reporters today. “But I have a responsibility to get a bill to the Senate floor that will get 60 votes that we can proceed toward.”
