It let Iran know clearly how the U.S. viewed them, several Iranians intelligence agents were captured in Iraq, for example, and this was reported. Sanctions, and tougher talk on their nuclear ambitions than we've seen from Obama. Iran is pretty open about what they're going to do regarding nukes... much more so than under Bush. High level diplomatic talks were also off limits. How do you think North Korea feels after shooting off missiles and telling the U.S. to go stuff itself and now it has a former U.S. president visiting? It's called kowtowing and for all of his flaws, G.W. Bush didn't do that because it rewards bad behavior. Dictators around the world "endorsed" Obama which should tell you something. Granted, North Korea wasn't the biggest success story but nobody's been able to do anything with them in over half a century. As for Iran, well, I bet they're happy Obama's in office.
