Extremist or Patriotic?
Many of us have seen the Gadsden flag before (named after the American general Christopher Gadsden). It has been around longer than the United States, in fact. The flag has been used by the U.S. Marine Corps, a version used by the U.S. Navy since 9-11 is still flying on their ships, and the Gadsden flag was in use by the U.S. government as an official flag before the Stars and Stripes was introduced. With such a colorful, and governmental, history it is tough to see how somebody with one of these flags could be detained by law enforcement.
That’s right… detained by law enforcement for being an “extremist.” Check out this story about a driver from Louisiana who sported one of these:
A Louisiana driver was stopped and detained for having a “Don’t Tread on Me” bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer about the “subversive” message it sent, according to the driver’s relative.
The situation developed in the small town of Ball, La., where a receptionist at the police department told WND she knew nothing about the traffic stop, during which the “suspect” was investigated for “extremist” activities, the relative said.
According to the relative, it happened this way: Her brother-in-law was driving home from work through the town, which has a local reputation for enhancing its budget by ticketing speeders. He was pulled over by police officers who told him “he had a subversive survivalist bumper sticker on his car.”
“They proceeded to keep him there on the side of the road while they ran whatever they do to see if you have a record, keeping him standing by the side of the road for 30 minutes,” she told WND.
Finding no record and no reason to keep him, they warned him and eventually let him go, she said.
What’s next… will New Hampshire residents whose state motto is “Live Free or Die” be detained? What about all of those quarters out there in people’s pockets… will they be in “trouble” next?

It’s because of Homeland Security in their reports on Libertarians and constitutionalists, who aren’t happy the way the FED are exerting their powers over states and other constitutional issues.
I’ve done blog postings on “don’t Tread on me” about it.

I proudly have the Gadsden flag with anarcho-capitalist colors on my blog and on my car. No problems so far. But I don’t doubt that there is a segment of the population out there looking for “extremists” as defined by the Left.
(BTW, I believe that it is New Hampshire that has “Live Free or Die” as their motto. Vermont’s motto is “freedom and unity.”)
