Bush Democrats Dr. Sanity identity politics Liberals Media Bias Obama sotomayorI was reading some blogs this morning and came across this very interesting article by Victor Davis Hanson about the Sotomayor nomination. What is most interesting about this article (and why I share it here) is his use of visual examples of the hypocritical press using stereotypes to mock Republicans while pouncing on any example, real or imagined, of the same thing being done to Sotomayor:
Precisely the point that I made the other day. The Sotomayor nomination is just one more example of the the left’s “rainbow hypocrisy.”
If you have respect for a person or a cause, it seems obvious that you wouldn’t consider those people or that cause to be something to smear someone else with. So, it is always illuminating to discover what the “champions of the oppressed” REALLY think about the handicapped, women, blacks, gays and other minority groups they supposedly champion (i.e., by helping them remain victims for life).
Here are a few examples that exemplify the “compassionate” bigotry of the left and how that bigotry expresses itself when it is politically expedient to do so; i.e., when they want to smear someone with whom they disagree, particularly members of those groups who are not suitably deferential to them.

What the heck is all the fuss about Obama? Once again the electorate ignored racism, political correctness, extremism, and elected another old, well-educated, white lawyer to the White House. As for the rest of it, he is only following his well established philosophy, what else could you expect. Elect a flaming community organiser liberal and you will get highly liberal policies and highly suspect ethics.

Harrison, Do you follow the Bobo files? You two have a lot of political thoughts that are similar. The problem with politicians, media, blogs, left, right, and center, is that any nominee picked would have garnered equal outrage from the other side. No matter what someone’s ideology, the other party feels an obligation to tear them apart usually going back decades into someone’s history to pull out speeches, statements, and incidences of bad judgment. In the spirit of campaigning, the ostracized party always responds the same by claiming the person is being unfairly singled out by the other. That’s just the way it is and always will be. As for women, gays, minorities, etc., being played up as victims by the dems, the republican party, which was founded as champions for these causes, has lost its way, and its base. Thoughts such as mentioned in your article are the very reason the republican party is in its present position, listless.

You don’t find it strange that a party (Democratic) which goes out of its way to say it “celebrates diversity” doesn’t do that? The hate found on Daily Kos and other Left sites is far more angry, vicious, and intolerant than what I see on the Right. Normally we could say all “fringe” elements are like this but these people, because they are so vocal, exert a lot of influence on their elected officials.
The GOP is far from perfect and I hardly agree with them on every issue but to say they are listless is untrue.
