The Democrats' Stupid Oil Policy

OIL - the four letter word for Democrats.
Memories must be short in Washington. As the “oil shock” of 2008 fades into memory, OPEC’s secretary general sees prices rising to between $70.00 and $75.00 per barrel by year’s end:
OPEC secretary general Abdalla Salem El Badri said on Friday he expected oil prices to rise to 70-75 dollars per barrel by the end of this year. “If this current trend continues, if recovery as we see it coming (materialises), we see a range of 70-75 dollars by year-end,” the oil cartel chief told reporters here.
Similar sentiments were expressed by an Iranian official:
Iran’s oil minister said crude prices were expected to rise in a “calm fashion,” the Oil Ministry website SHANA reported on Sunday. “It seems oil market conditions will improve further,” the website quoted Gholamhossein Nozari as saying.
The oil price, which has more than doubled from a December low of $32.40 a barrel, hit a six-month high over $66 a barrel on Friday.
Nozari pointed at previous OPEC decisions to reduce output as a reason for the higher oil price this year.
And, in a recent article by the Financial Times of London Brazil announced development of one of possibly the largest oil fields in the world off their coast:
International oil companies will be invited to bid for concessions in Brazil’s enormous “pre-salt” oil fields as early as next year, Edson Lobão, mines and energy minister, has told the Financial Times.
Mr Lobão said Petrobras could not on its own cope with the huge task of developing the reserves, trapped under several kilometres of seawater, rock and a layer of hard-to-penetrate salt off the country’s coast.
It is very clear that OPEC, which is composed of regimes hostile to the United States such as Iran and Venezuala, wants higher prices for their oil (their economies are being seriously crippled by low prices now) and countries like Brazil are looking to explore and exploit reserves in their own country. What is wrong with the United States, the Democratic party in particular, doing the same? A large part of our economic problems have to do with the money we ship overseas every day to pay for oil we could not only be getting domestically but we miss out on the jobs and taxes that development creates. Don’t we need to create well paying domestic jobs? Liberals are so fond of talking about all of the jobs George W. Bush “shipped” overseas but what are they doing to create high paying (mostly union) jobs here in this country? The answer: nothing.
Democrats block any attempt at oil exploration, offshore drilling, and creation of new refineries. The result is high gasoline prices, unhappy consumers, and an energy policy that puts this country seriously at risk. What are they thinking?
Brazil is being much more intelligent about things than the United States is:
In contrast, Brazil in the past 10 years has doubled its daily oil production to 2.3m barrels and is beginning to export. Mr Lobão says the country will join Opec once exports ramp up.
The Unites States has untold reserves for natural gas and oil… enough energy to keep this nation fueled up for more than a decade and yet Democrats do nothing:
America’s oil and natural gas energy needs will grow. A study by ICF International, commissioned by the American Petroleum Institute, finds that our domestic energy resources placed off limits by Congress in ANWR, in Rocky Mountain shale and in the Outer Continental Shelf could generate more than $1.7 trillion in government revenue and create thousands of new jobs.
The rest of the world is moving in… why are we, as a nation, sitting on our hands?

This situation isn’t helped by the fact that the dollar is likely to crash as the fed continues to print money to pay for all the change that our brilliant compatriots voted for. You also can add to this the fact that Obama’s head of the Dept. of Transportation today reported that national road-building projects are facing massive shortfalls, so they are going to have to raise the gasoline tax to make up for it. Sorry to the 95% of Americans that were promised a tax cut by Obama.

So far, politicians on both sides have said they won’t raise the gasoline tax even though, if the intention is to reduce driving, they should.

It is ironic that Obama wants to increase every tax he can but won’t touch the gas tax.

As the American dollar declines, oil prices will rise as investors run to protect their investments from inflation. We are so screwed.
