Obama the Hypocrite
As if we needed any more evidence that the man is not who he says he is:
In a reversal, President Barack Obama said on Wednesday he would fight the release of dozens of photographs showing the abuse of terrorism suspects, over concern the images could ignite a backlash against U.S. troops.
How did the Wise One come to this conclusion? Here it is:
“In fact, the most direct consequence of releasing them, I believe, would be to further inflame anti-American opinion and to put our troops in greater danger,” Obama told reporters. “Moreover, I fear the publication of these photos may only have a chilling effect on future investigations of detainee abuse.”
One has to wonder what he thought it would do to the United States’ “image” by closing Gitmo or partially releasing “torture” memos that have only made the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi look like the hypocrite she is. As to Gitmo and all of the “criticism” Obama lobbed towards the previous administration, it gets even better:
The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil — indefinitely and without trial — as part of a plan to retool military commission trials that were conducted for prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
So, basically in the end, he is doing pretty much what G.W. Bush did except for having these terrorists safely off U.S. continental soil he’s going to stick them someplace in the country but treat them the same way!
Why the reversal? His lofty ideals which were a sop to his Liberal base met one thing that won’t change – reality:
Defense Secretary Robert Gates, at a hearing last month, hinted at the administration’s deliberations, saying that there were “50 to 100 [detainees] probably in that ballpark who we cannot release and cannot trust, either in Article 3 [civilian] courts or military commissions.”
The administration’s move to block the release of military detainee photos was welcomed by Republicans in Congress and by some military family groups but condemned by the ACLU and others.
All Obama has done from January 20th is to make the U.S. look weak in the eyes of our enemies, unintentionally ensnare Nancy Pelosi in her own lies and deceptions, and side with Republicans in doing what G.W. Bush did.
While Obama is to be praised for doing the correct thing in the end, he shows his complete ineptness in putting us all through this drama in order for him to arrive at his conclusions.
Basically it comes down to the fact that in the years after 9-11 few Democrats had the courage to speak up if they honestly felt this country’s conduct was unbecoming a democracy with respect to terrorism. Perhaps they were scared we would be hit again, perhaps they knew the voters wouldn’t tolerate peaceniks… who knows. But now that we are almost 8 years removed they feel that it is “safe” for them to use everything they never spoke out against (except for Jane Harman) in order to tarnish G.W. Bush and the Republicans. But guess what, once you have power it isn’t that simple.
Why is Obama not the man he says he is? Because when he ran for president he said we was not going to be like G.W. Bush.

Being president is no time for on the job training. But it’s not like “reality” was so hard to figure out before he became president so either he was being partisan with national security or was just really dense.
