Oh Nancy dear… when you lie for so long it can be tough to remember what you said and when you said it.  Pelosi tries to do the two step but, in the end, just looks like someone who can’t get her story straight.

Expecting outrage from the Liberal media is too much and my fellow San Francisco voters are too much of a tool to figure out they’ve been had but, at least, the rest of America probably can do the math and see what a liar she is.

The sweet irony of this entire thing is that the Democrats thought they could tarnish the previous administration but when you try and pull a fast one sometimes it backfires!

And instead of admitting maybe they’re wrong, the Democrats, of course, try and blame the CIA:

Asked whether the CIA was seeking political cover by releasing the documents, Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said: “Sure it is.”

  • What difference does it make if Pelosi knew about the torture going on. The real point is Bush and Cheney knew and encourage the torture because they were desperate to establish a link between al qaeada and Saddam Hussein so they could justify starting a war in Iraq. Quit trying to cover up what Bush and Cheney did by finding fault with Pelosi.

    • Thanks for your comment but the I think you are letting Pelosi off the hook too easily. Pelosi knew what was going on and did not protest (fellow representative Jane Harman did) but she did hammer Bush for “torture” for many years until she was exposed as a liar.

The issue is not Iraq, al Qaeda, or Afghanistan, it is a hypocritical Speaker of the House.

How many innocent lives would you trade so the U.S. could have stayed waterboarding-free?

  • What can we learn from all of this? Not to pick a fight with the CIA while it’s still firing on all cylinders (I know bad metaphor to describe anything in America these days) after 8 years of the Bush administration. If you step back and look at how our intelligence community might turn an organization like Al Qaeda or the Taliban against itself, you see a similar thing happening right now with Democrats. Up to this point they have appeared to be quite united. Now we have the CIA raining on their parade. They are feeding a little info. here and a little info. there -not enough to settle anything authoritatively. They are just doing enough to get people like Pelosi to go on the record and prove what a big moron they are. Meanwhile the CIA has the high ground, and democratic leadership is fragmenting. And who is orchestrating all of this? Dick Cheney.

Rush Limbaugh was saying today that Pelosi should really break through the glass ceiling and do what several MALE Speakers have done: Resign in shame.

    • I don’t know if Cheney is so much “orchestrating” it as giving enough information on what he observed to make people press for more information but certainly it is ironic that the Democrats tried to use “torture” against Bush but it winds up that they are the ones paying the price for their partisan attacks. Rightly so, I think.

  • Also, Pelosi can’t win this. She is either 1. dangerously lying about matters of national security, or she is 2. grossly incompetent, or 3. both!

It is surprising she decided to go with the third option.

    Burro’s last blog post..consensus

    • She will probably be challenged for her position. She should resign but won’t. Still, it is nice to watch her slowly twisting in the wind though it is sad for the country.

  • You Republicans are like vultures waiting for the Democrats to fail. Pelosi never lied, she was misled by the CIA. Get over it. The lies Bush and Cheney told to get us in a war in Iraq are what you Republicans want everyone to forget by accusing Pelosi.

    • There are quite a few people over at the CIA and at Capitol Hill that would disagree with you over the “Pelosi never lied” thing.

And I would say that Pelosi’s comments over the past several years have made her seem like a vulture only now it is she who is the roadkill.

If she resigns her position then will you believe she is a liar?

  • It is clear that she has lied, and many times. Not only about CIA briefings, but other things as well. It was not that long ago that this occurred, so I remember hearing about it at the time–and Nancy was up to her botoxed eyeballs in it. She epitomizes all that is wrong with Congress and present day politicians: lying, changing her tune to match the present circumstances, and a self serving index that’s off the charts. It is a pleasure to see her finally forced to face her lying self and the trouble for which she has only herself to thank. It would be nice if she resigned, but that kind of sociopath never does. They are far too arrogant in their own delusions and they figure their money and power will protect them. Unfortunately, with a congress so intensely wrapped into the palm of BOzo’s and his owners’ hands, she’ll probably remain right where she is until the last dog dies, lying, stealing and cheating her way through congress.

    • Thank you for your comments. I agree with you but now that Obama has reversed positions on detainee photos, offshore drilling, polar bears, indefinite detention, and other things the press is so blase about it whereas with Bush he was the worst person in the world. This whole Pelosi thing has shown that even the Ms. California/Obama similarities on gay marriage.

I hope Pelosi will be forced out but you may be right.

  • Bob can defend Pelosi by saying she was mislead. This just proves she is incompetent. To which I say, what is the purpose in trying to protect someone from failure who is incompetent?

    Burro’s last blog post..consensus

  • Good point! Plus, I spelled misled incorrectly. Whoops!

    Burro’s last blog post..consensus

  • Burro: By your reasoning the entire Republican party is incompetent because they were all misled by Bush and Cheney. Maybe that’s why you never defend the Republicans and are always attacking the Democrats, you can’t defend incompetence. The American people showed that they are tired of all the lies by the Republican party, that’s why they voted Democrats into office.

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

  • Which Republicans are claiming to have been misled?

    Burro’s last blog post..consensus

  • Burro: are you saying that all Republicans agreed to go along with Bush and Cheney’s lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? If not, then they were misled.

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

  • Yeah us poor Democrats are in control and will stay in control

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

  • In defense of the CIA, I believe that after 9/11 they were given an impossible task. After nearly a decade of mismanagement by the Clinton administration, the country was basically demanding information from the CIA that they simply didn’t have. If they had been running robustly enough to know what apparently wasn’t known about the WMDs, then they probably would have known more about the impending attacks on 9/11. You go to war with the intelligence that you have. The fact that Bush and Cheney had crappy intelligence is more an indictment of Clinton than anybody.

Since Obama and the democrats seem to be playing chicken with the CIA with regards to torture, it is arguable that the biggest casualty of this situation will be that the country becomes weaker. The logical end of this catfight is probably another terrorist attack. If I were a terrorist, I would see the government distracting the CIA with political fights as a big opportunity.

    Burro’s last blog post..consensus

    • From what I know of this topic Bill Clinton was more interested in making terrorists a law enforement issue which is why he passed on taking bin Laden from Sudan when they offered him to us. Is this correct?

I would also think many of the conclusions the CIA would reach might not appeal to Liberal mentalities. That’s why the lead guy on bin Laden in the CIA quit to become head of security at the WTC and was ironically killed there on 9-11.

  • Bush and Cheney had good intelligence about Iraq. They knew Saddam had no WPO’s, that’s why they ordered the UN inspecters out of Iraq before they could confirm there were no WPO’s. Bush wanted to get Saddam Hussin out of revenge for Saddamm who previously planned to assinate his dad when he was president. Cheney wanted the war so he could help Haliburton which he use to work for and still owned stock in. Haliburton got the multi-billion dollar contract to rebuild Iraq after we spent bllions of tax payer dollars blowing it up. Bush wasn’t worried about catching any terrorist, because there were none in Iraq before the war. Bush should have used all the military resources he had at the time to go after Binladen, the Taliban and the Al Qaeda that were in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but instead he wanted to start his war in Iraq. Bush and Cheney should be charge and convicted of war crimes and lying to the American people. Even if Pelosi was briefed about the waterboarding(which she wasn’t), there wasn’t anything she could do about it at the time because the Republicans were in control of the house and senate and Bush was president. What Pelosi knew is a non-issue.

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

    • The part you omit in all of this was that the Senators who voted for the authorization of the use of force had access to all of the documents they would need in order to make a decision and only a handful of either party requested access. You also omit that many Democrats voted “yes” so to make this a partisan issue is incorrect.

The CIA disagrees with you over what Pelosi knows and I’m sorry but I would take their word over yours.

  • I would take Pelosi’s word over the CIA’s word or your opinion. Someone named Tenet comes to mind. There were some foolish Democrats who voted for the use of force, niether party is perfect, but the Democrats are a little closer to that than the Republicans. I knew from the start Bush was lying about WPO’s and he wanted to go to war with Iraq even if he had to lie to do it.

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

  • Harrison: I’ll give you one good reason why I don’t trust the CIA. George Tenet who was Chief of the CIA earned big money from companies that profited from the Iraq war. My belief is he was partners in crime along with Bush and Cheney. Although Tenet resigned, who’s to say that there are not others in the CIA just as untrustworthy as George Tenet was? I’ll stand behind Pelosi, before I believe anything the CIA says or any Republican for that matter.

Bob’s last blog post..The Republicans are on the attack again

    • The thing is, a Democrat is in charge of the CIA now. And Obama is not saying anything about Pelosi. You only need to look at who is NOT coming to her defense to judge whether she is standing on the truth or not. Evidence shows that to be a big “no.”

  • You know what I hate most about Republicans? They always want to have the last word. Ok you can have the last word after this. Democrats can lie almost as much as the Republicans. Thats all I have say say. Now you can have your last word.
