The Only Thing Heating Up is the Rhetoric

Big enough to fit all of the rhetoric?
Will the doomsayers who ride in private jets spewing out tons of “greenhouse” gases ever understand that the only hot air that’s being created by man are their words? According to England’s Prince Charles, a man who is only where he is because of birth, we only have 100 months to save the world before “global warming” changes everything. How times have changed.
It was only in 1974 that we were told a new ice age was upon us. Way back then Time magazine wrote:
As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing.
In the 34 years since that article was written (not even a blip in the history of our planet) suddenly everything has changed. Prince Charles and Al Gore aren’t the only one trying to scare people, even the U.N has taken a shot by issuing a report that says, in part:
“Unless the international community agrees to cut carbon emissions by half over the next generation,” the report says (according to Reuters), “climate change is likely to cause large-scale human and economic setbacks and irreversible catastrophes.”
While the United Nations is great at squandering money and not fighting corruption, it also contradicts itself on the issue of climate change:
The United Nations World Meteorological Organization is reporting that global temperatures have not risen since 1998. That would be the same temperatures that models from the U.N.’s Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change said would be scorching the earth into an unlivable wasteland — except for those coastal areas flooded by seas gorged with water from melting ice sheets.
So on the one hand, “global warming” is going to destroy the earth but then on the other, there’s been no change in temperatures. That’s interesting, isn’t it?
It seems that one minute mankind is responsible for warming the earth but then he is also responsible for cooling it as well:
Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin’s Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth.

As has been said here before, water vapor plays the biggest role of all climate changing substances in the climate of the earth, 94.999% of which is naturally occurring. Were all of this talk of temperature kept at cocktail parties there would be little concern however if Democrats in Congress have their way, a whole slew of “save the earth” legislation will be signed into law by President Obama, the cost of which will be huge:
But the price tag to consumers could be a lot higher if some politicians have their way. In fact, U.S. households could expect a $2,900 annual hit to their family budget sooner than they think.
Seems like an emormous sum of money based upon something that cannot be proven, even if a lot of trendy jetsetters think it is real. But that is what climate change advocates are trying to do – they want to increase your taxes, reduce your consumption, and force you to live the same type of lifestyle they advocate (though of course the famous ones own several homes, private jets, and a fleet of cars).
Considering 40% of U.S. electricity comes from coal fired plants and how expensive and inefficient “green” energy is, it would be difficult to believe that global warmers will really get their way in Washington even though the cost of them getting even part of what they want would be gigantic and the benefits uncertain.
